I am a wood-turner living and working in southwest Michigan with my wife and our dogs. I am entirely self-taught and have been honing my turning skills for the past twelve years. I've been honored to receive a number of awards at various art shows and exhibitions in both New York and Michigan. In the spring of 2014, I was accepted as a member of the historic Roycroft Artisans at Large group, based in East Aurora, NY. I am proud to be a part of this historic artist guild and was incredibly honored when I was elevated to the rank of Master Roycroft Artisan in 2019.
In 2019 I also became a member of the Blue Coast Artists Group in southwest Michigan. This talented group of artists host a Fall Art Tour during the first weekend of October each year. It's an interesting, engaging and fun event allowing our customers to visit each artist in their working studios - to see first-hand how we create our work and be able to interact as you see exactly how we bring our work to life. I hope you'll come out to the shop to see what's new each October. Details and a tour map can be found on my Contact page.
As I've pushed my turning skills to new levels, I've found that I have a true passion for uncovering the hidden beauty that is locked away inside each piece that I mount on my lathe. I love the experience of watching each piece evolve with every pass of my chisel - every cut, revealing more of the character and warmth from within. I consider it my privilege to take a tired old piece of cut wood, and re-purpose it into something new and beautiful - whether it's a decorative art piece or a functional household item.
I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy the process of bringing each of the pieces to life.
